URL encoding (percent-encoding) replaces unsafe characters with a % followed by two hex digits. encodeURIComponent encodes everything except A-Z a-z 0-9 - _ . ~ ! * ' ( ). encodeURI preserves URL structure characters like : / ? # @ &.
